Shopping for an online ordering system can feel like buying a used car. The sales pitch is shiny, but what's under the hood? Before you sign a contract, ask these five questions.
The Checklist
Is the data mine? If you leave the platform, do you get to take your customer email list with you? (The answer must be yes).
What are the processing fees? Standard credit card fees are ~2.9% + 30¢. Anything higher is a hidden tax.
How are modifiers handled? Can you do complex pizza toppings (left half/right half) or force a temperature choice on a steak?
Does it support loyalty integration? Earning points should be automatic.
Is there a contract? Avoid long-term lock-ins. You should be able to leave if the service sucks.
Don't get dazzled by a low monthly price if the system is clunky or steals your data.
