Build your email audience
Add contacts, import a list, and make customer groups that update on their own.
Where to find itMarketing › Email Marketing › Audience
Add one contact and make lists
- 1Email address Required.
- 2First name Optional, along with Last name. Used to personalize emails.
- 3Consent Check "I have documented this person’s marketing consent". Only add people who agreed to get marketing email.
- 4Add Contact Saves the contact.
- 5Search contacts Find a contact by email or name. The table shows their marketing status and lists.
- 6New list name Like Newsletter, Lunch regulars or Catering.
- 7Create List Makes the list.
A contact can be on several lists and still counts only once toward your contact allowance. Adding someone to a list never gives marketing consent on its own.
Import a list and make groups
- 1Choose File A CSV with the columns email, first_name, last_name, phone, tags, consent.
- 2Import CSV Uploads it. People without consent are kept but will not get marketing emails.
- 3Group name Like "Loyal customers".
- 4At least this many orders Optional rule, like 5.
- 5Has any of these tags Optional rule. Separate tags with commas.
- 6Create Group Saves the group.
Groups fill themselves. A "Regulars, 5+ orders" group updates as customers keep ordering, so a campaign sent to it always reaches the right people. Set at least one rule.
